The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) is the seventh largest exhibition centre in Europe, located in Solihull. It is near junction 6 of the M42 motorway, and is adjacent to Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International railway station. It has 21 interconnected halls, set in grounds of 628 acres. The NEC Arena, host to large music concerts, is part of the complex. The 11,000 capacity NEC Arena was the largest multi-purpose arena in the UK when opening in the mid-1980s and although not the largest it is still a popular venue for touring acts.

The Bull Ring is a commercial area. It has been an important feature of Birmingham since the Middle Ages, when its market was first held. It has been developed into a shopping centre twice. The site is located on the edge of the sandstone city ridge which results in the steep gradient towards Digbeth. The market legally began in the year 1154 when Peter de Bermingham, a local landowner, obtained a Charter of Marketing Rights from King Henry II. In the late 1700s, street commissioners were authorised to buy and demolish houses in the town centre including houses surrounding the Bull Ring and centre all market activity in the area.

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens are botanical gardens situated in Edgbaston. The gardens are close to the centre of Birmingham and open every day of the year, from sunrise to sunset. They were designed in 1829 by J. C. Loudon, a leading garden planner, horticultural journalist and publisher. The gardens opened in 1832. There is a lawn on the slope in front of the conservatory and a range of beds and shrubberies round its perimeter. Overall, the character is that of a Victorian public park – with a bandstand set in 15 acres of landscaped greenery.

Located within the grounds of Dudley Castle, Dudley Zoo was founded in the mid 1930s. Having more than 1,000 animals representing over 200 different species, the zoo is set in the splendour of the castle ruins enjoying breath-taking views across the Black Country. Its famous chairlift, installed in 1958, was closed after some 40 years due to safety concerns, but plans are in place to re-install a new lift as part of the site's general refurbishment. Also included in the project are a tropical dome and walk-through aviaries as well as numerous shops and restaurants.
