Recently I watched the very first episode of CSI (dated around 2000) for the first time

One of the storylines involved a "trick roll":

"Nick Stokes arrives at his crime scene and meets a man who was drugged by a hooker and had his possessions stolen while he was unconscious. Nick notices a discoloration around the man’s mouth that he thereafter ties up with another caseload, Kristy Hopkins, who accidentally crashes her car when she got knocked unconscious while driving. He notices the same discolouration around her nipples and realizes that she put scopolamine on her nipples to knock out her victims and steal their possessions"

This reminded me of a story that I had read in Private Eye's "Funny Old World" section in 2008, which reprinted a story from a Nigerian newspaper about businessmen waking up in similar circumstances.

Which prompts me to ask:

Did the producers of CSI get the plot idea from the habits of hookers or vice versa?

Well I wouldn't know about the Hookers but the best TV sit-com series certainly do take Real Life and then embellish it!

I was an apprentice, way back, and the chap who wrote "The Likely Lads" (which appeared around the same time) had to have experienced it, mind you some of our escapades would never have been part of the programmes. smile
